Nestlé
Part of one of the world’s largest food companies, Nestlé USA initiated an enterprise-wide bilingual packaging directive for all existing product lines-more than 1,200 different items. While many tasks were assigned to the various divisions of Nestlé, the company decided to turn to TransPerfect to coordinate the localization effort. Our knowledge of industry regulations and FDA bilingual packaging requirements proved to be an invaluable time-saver. We created separate workflows for each Nestlé division, centralizing the planning and distribution of all files with a single dedicated project manager and account manager. The translations had to be delivered promptly so as to allow sufficient time for Nestlé’s in-house staff to perform the typesetting and for TransPerfect’s linguists to, in turn, perform post-DTP proofreading to ensure that no errors were present in the end product. As a result of this successful collaboration, Nestlé has created a unified and standardized set of procedures for translation and continues to look to TransPerfect to meet its language needs.


Office Depot
Office Depot, the largest seller of office products in the US, employs personnel from a number of different countries. In seeking to create a unified work environment, a need arose for producing multilingual communications aimed at internal staff. Office Depot turned to TransPerfect for assistance in adapting correspondence into an array of languages, including Vietnamese, Arabic, and Tagalog. Due to the time-sensitive nature of the information, Office Depot relied on our renowned ability to process translations on an expedited basis in order to meet strict deadlines.


CVS
When retail pharmacy chain CVS opened stores in South Florida, TransPerfect was chosen to help reach out to the neighboring Spanish-speaking population. We partnered with the company to create bilingual advertisements for products, services, and promotional events. To effectively maintain the relationship with customers, an English/Spanish circular is translated every two weeks and delivered in varying forms of print media. Because customer feedback was so overwhelmingly positive, CVS decided to expand its language efforts: its materials, including pharmacy services pamphlets, are now also available in Russian and Arabic.


Starbucks
As companies expand their global reach, the ability to send a universal message becomes ever more important. When the Seattle-based coffee giant needed to have brochures translated for distribution in its Latin American stores, it turned to TransPerfect. Because the Starbucks brand is very distinctive, the project could not be treated as just a straightforward translation. Therefore, we employed in-language copywriters who worked to ensure that the translated material’s tone and the content would be consistent with the marketers’ original intent and that the Starbuck’s message would be accurately and effectively conveyed.


Nike
Having had bad experiences with previous providers of translation services, Nike turned to TransPerfect for an immediate update of the “Global Soccer Press Kit” into 17 languages. Reaching out to us on a Friday afternoon, Nike needed the kits turned around by Monday-leaving no time to update the changes made in the kit. Our fast-acting team worked together with Nike staff to identify changes that the linguists could quickly amend. Our project managers worked through the weekend to implement the linguists’ edits directly into Nike’s website, all the while sending regular updates to keep Nike informed of the progress. The entire series of Press Kits was ready for delivery first-thing Monday morning.


Urban Brands
Wanting to be able to more effectively communicate with its Puerto Rico-based employees, apparel retailer Urban Brands came to TransPerfect with large-scale language needs, but with no definite translation budget. After meeting with Urban Brands to assess its present situation and define its long-term strategic goals, we were able to customize an affordable solution to accomplish the company’s objectives. To localize the materials for the intended audience, we utilized professional linguists who were well versed in both the Puerto Rican Spanish dialect and the terminology of the apparel industry. In addition, we introduced cost-saving opportunities by using translation memory tools and outlining a comprehensive schedule detailing the priority of documents for translation. These first projects were so successful that Urban Brands experienced a drastic improvement in employee relations. As a result, translation has not only become an item on the budget-it is now seen as mission-critical to the company’s growth.


Kellogg’s
When Kellogg’s expanded its operations by opening several plants throughout Europe, it knew that its SAP integration project would have to be rolled out into French and German. Given a deadline of just five weeks, TransPerfect didn’t just have to translate the training courses-we also had to localize the material and ensure the consistency and accuracy of highly specific terminology. By utilizing translation memory tools and subject-matter experts, we were able to deliver publication-ready user manuals well before the deadline. In addition, our knowledgeable professional linguists provided on-site interpretation during the seven-week training sessions in Germany and France, shadowing the English speakers and facilitating communication between teams.
